The American Lifeguard Association is happy to announce the opening of brand-new local lifeguard certification programs, which will be available at local beaches and community pools all summer long. In order to enable more people to pursue this fulfilling vocation, we want to expand access to lifeguard training.
Certified to Save Lives
Becoming a certified lifeguard is the first step to a job that saves lives. Our courses will provide the training needed to pass national lifeguard certification from American Lifeguard Association or United States Lifesaving Association. Students will learn surveillance techniques, rescue skills, first aid protocols, and more to prepare for a job on the frontlines of aquatic safety.
Schedule of Classes
We are offering morning, afternoon, and evening classes starting in June at several locations close to home:
· Coastal Shores Community Pool: classes Tues/Thurs evenings in June.
· Sandy Beach: Saturday morning classes in July.
· Lakeview Waterpark: afternoon classes Mon/Wed/Fri in August.
Scholarships Available
The American Lifeguard Association is committed to ensuring cost is not a barrier to certification. Limited scholarship funds are available for students who cannot afford course fees. Students who complete training and are hired as lifeguards at partner facilities may have fees waived.
Stay and Work Near Your Home
Once certified, we encourage students to consider a job with one of our local partner facilities. Beach and pool operations served by the ALA are currently hiring certified lifeguards. This is a great opportunity for high school or college-age students to work this summer near their home. These are important for guards seeking a promotion or to maintain certification long-term.
Give Back to Your Community
Saving lives is one of the most rewarding ways to spend your summer. We hope you will consider enrolling in an ALA certification course to join the ranks of community heroes working as lifeguards. Becoming a certified lifeguard is the first step toward a career helping keep beaches and pools safe for others to enjoy.
